SOCIAL TRAINING

Social Training is a BoundingHound specific philosophy. We believe that dog training is much more than learning basic commands, and is a constant, all encompassing endeavor that is designed to build real-life skills; skills that help a dog co-exist with other dogs and with humans more calmly.

Our goal through Social Training is to help your dog learn how to relax, how to deescalate, and how to navigate real-life situations.

We teach basic commands to help with that goal, but that is not our focus.  We focus on calm, productive behavior that goes beyond ‘Sit’ or ‘Down’; non-command based skills like staying off of counters, being less vocal, less jumping, more time spent chewing their own toys instead of your shoes, learning to relax instead of bouncing off walls.  Some of the basic commands that we integrate into the overall lifestyle are ‘Sit’, ‘Down’, some ‘Stay’, name recognition, potty training, and those commands are mostly used for organization, rather than trying to teach them as a ’show or competition skill’.

Social Training Assessment: New dogs are required to take a three-day assessment. At the end of the third day, we assign your dog a level based on their skill set, reliability, and required maintenance.  Levels range from 1 to 5.

Daytime $33

Level 1: The Perfect Dog

Requires zero maintenance, plays well and coexists with others. Will not fight, non-vocal, doesn’t jump, is potty trained, listens to their name, knows basic commands, not a flight risk or escape artist, can be kenneled if necessary, not destructive, relaxed and calm.

Daytime $33, Overnight $61

Level 2: The ALMOST Perfect Dog

Requires little maintenance, plays well and coexists with most dogs. Will not fight, vocal during play only, jumps occasionally, is potty trained, listens to their name, can perform basic commands but lacks consistency, not a flight risk or escape artist, can be kenneled if necessary, not destructive, relaxed and calm.

Daytime $38, Overnight $66

Level 3: The Good Dog

Requires some maintenance, plays and coexists well with some dogs. Will defend itself, jumps regularly but not incessantly, vocal at times, will have an accident occasionally, will listen to their name at times, knows basic commands when they want to, isn’t a flight risk or escape artist, doesn’t like to be kenneled but will settle down, will relax and calm down, can be destructive at times.

Daytime $43, Overnight $71

Level 4 : The WORK IN PROGRESS Dog

Requires a lot of maintenance, plays and coexists well with a few dogs. Will defend itself, will fight, jumps a lot, vocal, inconsistent potty reliability, doesn’t listen well to their name most of the time, struggles with basic commands, not a flight risk or escape artist, struggles in the kennel, struggles to relax, is destructive and is disruptive.

Daytime $48, Overnight $76

Level 5: The Puppy or Problematic adult dog

Requires constant maintenance, doesn’t play or coexist well with other dogs or humans, jumps incessantly, vocal incessantly, not potty trained, doesn’t know his/her name, no basic commands, is a flight risk/escape artist, hates the kennel, can’t relax, is destructive and is very disruptive.
